Day 10 Walk It Out!
BE STILL Spend 2 minutes in stillness and silence with God
SCRIPTURE For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
DEVOTION
Remember back in section one when we were thriving with God by submitting and trusting Him? Okay, it’s time to put that to use here too. After we’ve identified our gifts, the next step is to actually walk in them! It’s cute to know we’re talented in the fine arts or have the spiritual gift of discernment, but we have assignments to fulfill and lives to change too. It’s time we get up and walk out those gifts.
Have you seen a baby when they first learn to walk? Usually, there is something that motivates them enough to move. They want to get from one place to another and realize that their legs can help them do that. It’s even more fascinating when their motivation to grab a favorite toy or give mama a hug is so strong that they’re walking without even realizing it!
Starting today, we’re taking those childlike steps too. Many of us want to get from Point A to Point B in our lives and our gifts are the key to doing so. Once we’ve identified them, we must use them! This is where the submitting and trusting come back into play. When God orders our steps and tells us how to move, we need to move. We can also trust that even if we fall, He will be right there to catch us and pick us back up again.
How do I know that God will tell us what to do with those gifts? Well, we’ve been seeking Him first above all else right?! Remember what we learned while we were thriving with God in section one - when we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. Do you see how everything is building up on itself? By seeking, abiding, submitting, and trusting in Him we can identify and walk in our gifts with confidence. Giving an unapologetic Martin reference here, there are people in this world who are waiting for us to “get to steppin!” It’s time to move.
What does fully walking in your gifts look like for you?
Is there anything keeping you from fully walking in your gifts? If so, what?
What is the last thing God has told you to do with your gifts? Have you done it? If you can’t remember, ask God to remind you or give you fresh instructions.
